Traditional Integration

Certain knowledge and skills are critical to a student being able to reach their highest potential, in becoming an effective member of the community and in successfully achieving their life goals. This knowledge should be mandatory. However, in keeping with our belief in student oriented education and recognizing that students have different learning styles ILA will develop innovative methods for incorporating this knowledge as well as the means to assess it. These subject areas include:

• How to effectively express yourself: (speech, reading – to comprehend and respond to a variety of written forms, writing skills including grammar and vocabulary).

• Math: to navigate everyday life and to the degree to which you need it to accomplish your life work.

• Worldview: including an understanding of our place in a global economy, appreciation for diversity, and insight into our interconnectedness on a personal and a global level.

• Science: at least one serious intro to physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental stewardship.

• Art and Technology: embedded into the project-based programs.
