Foundations for Families

This program needs nice facilities to operate in and we are reaching out to
you for help.

We are looking for a large enough (800 sq ft minimum), family-friendly carpeted space with heating/cooling to hold two 2-hour morning classes and one 1½-hour evening class each week.  Locations are needed in Sedona, Cottonwood, and Flagstaff. It could be a church building or other public facility.  Please contact us with any suggestions, even if it is just a hunch.  You can reach Jimmy at (928) 300-7170 or Jimmy@

FOUNDATIONS 4 FAMILIES

Whatever a child learns in their early years is never forgotten

FOUNDATIONS 4 FAMILIES - a new educational support program for parents with infants and toddlers. It is developed by the Inspirational Learning Academy (ILA) which is scheduled to open in Sedona in 2008.

While there is much work yet to be done before ILA opens its doors, F4F is a way for us to begin serving the community as well as building a stronger network of community support for local families.  F4F will introduce parents to practical modern discoveries about children's potentials and help them develop family interdependence-the ability of each individual to fulfill their own unique potentials while supporting other family members in that same process.  This allows a family to reach their goals as a team.

F4F requires an eight week commitment from families, consisting of two 2-hour classes for both parents and children and one 1½-hour class for parents each week.  We are planning to pilot this program in mid-January 2008 and launch the 1st eight week session in February but are still in need of a facility.

We are motivated by our belief that parents collectively committed to nurturing the highest potentials in their children and themselves are a powerful catalyst for change in their community and the world.  We hope that you agree and will support us in this work.

FOUNDATIONS 4 FAMILIES PROGRAMS ARE:

  • For parents/caregivers with infants and toddlers (0-4)
  • Delivered through multiple levels of 8-week family sessions
  • Complimentary to Waldorf, Montessori and other forms of education

PARENT/CHILD CLASSES meet twice weekly for two hours. These classes combine interactive dance, massage, song, relaxation and collaborative art to give children the opportunity to become curious, balanced and peaceful learners.  Understanding that young children are intrinsically affected by people's attitudes and emotions, they learn best to be happy, healthy and peaceful when those closest to them are doing the same.  Children will:

·     Develop skills in sharing & playing with others
·
Develop responsibility skills in cleaning up after self
·
Strengthen their bond with parent or caregiver
·
Develop skills in breathing, relaxation and calming the mind
·
    Strengthen intuition and imagination
·
Increase self confidence through group singing/dancing

In the PARENT CLASSES, which will meet one evening each week for 1 ½-hours, adults will receive guidance in clarifying family values and priorities, envisioning their child's potential, and developing daily routines to support those potentials all while strengthening the family bond.  Benefits for parents include:

·     Increased effectiveness in responding to their child's behaviors
·
Deeper insight into child's emotional behavior
·
Clearer goals for their own future in order to support their child's        future.
·
Enhanced skills in releasing stress and handling change.
·
    Increased energy and vitality
·
    Enhanced quality of sleep
·
    Improved family health and happiness
·
    Expanded community network

Sincerely,

Smarty Sedona
